On August 29-30 “The 3rd Annual Malibu Invitational” was held to benefit young Point Dume Surfer Lyon Herron beat his fight with Gardner’s Syndrome. Lyon was first diagnosed with Gardner’s Syndrome when he was 6 years young and has been fighting this disease for the past 13 years. Enjoy the photo highlights below.

This lucky grom walked away with Andy Iron’s autographed board from the silent auction at Duke’s Malibu.
We assume mom and dad backed-up his winning bid!
Primo Beer, Stockholm Krystal Vodka and Chateau Ste. Michelle got everyone loose at the Duke’s party while DJ Jacques
and Terraplane kept all the wet noodles moving into the night.
The swell may have been on the small side but it was still head high for competitors like Sebastian Mendes in the grom division!
Chance Lawson blew tails and blew minds all the way to the Grom final.
Skylar Lawson (Chance’s younger brother) made the most of surfing 1st point with only three other guys in the water by making the Grom final as well.
It was little Jake Kelly who surfed big enough to win the Grom final at the Bu though!
When actor Scott Caan isn’t on set, he’s on sets at the Bu and he’s way cooler then his latest character, Scotty Lavin on Entourage.
In between heats, he took part in the TheraSURF session benefitting kids with autism and special needs.
It was blazing hot all weekend at the Bu and some legends figured a hat might be good protection for the dome while in the water -
Just kiddin! No only does Evan Caples still have all his hair; he still has all the moves.
Malibu legend, Steven Lippman, wore many hats over the weekend that included: sponsor, organizer, announcer and competitor!
A Legends division at the Bu wouldn’t be complete without the “Wave Killer,” Allen Sarlo.
Reef Macintosh flew over from Hawaii and was in L.A. long enough to put on a contest jersey before heading off to Tavarua.
Ricky Whitlock’s drive up from Carlsbad paid off with a finals appearance in the Pro Division.
L.A.’s next shot at the WCT comes in the form of Malibu’s Dillon Perillo who made the Pro final as well.
Even though it was small, Timmy Curran turned heads all weekend.

Curran donated his $1,500 check to the Lyon Herron Foundation.
