The ISA World Junior Championships are getting underway today at Piha beach, just outside of Auckland, New Zealand. Team USA has been on hand for a few days now, surveying the area and the wave, getting in a few last minute practice sessions, and doing everything they can to improve on last years fourth place finish in Ecuador.
At the ISA World Games in Costa Rica, team USA came away with its first gold medal since 1996, and the juniors hope to pull off a similar result—though they’ll have to overcome team Australia, which has won the last four titles.
Team USA will be looking for big results from Courtney Conlogue, the Open Women’s champ at last years’ ISA World Games, and Kolohe Andino.
