BEACH CHALLENGE: “Monster Mash Trash Pick Up”
Attend your local ISD beach clean-up event and pick up the most trash – and by most, we mean a MONSTER AMOUNT OF TRASH!!
PRIZES:
On-site Prize — Each winner will receive a Monster towel, pin and sticker set.

INTERNET / BEACH CHALLENGE: “Most Unique Piece of Trash”
Find the most unique piece of trash. For grand prize entry, participants must take a photo of the piece of trash on ISD.

INTERNET / BEACH CHALLENGE: “Eventually Everything Ends Up In The Ocean”
The participant who conducts a cleanup farthest away from the beach. Participants submit photo(s) of the inland cleanup they did along with the following information: Where the inland cleanup took place; how many people participated; how much trash was collected; and how far away from the beach the cleanup was.

Send in the best photo of yourself with any sort of Matix branded feature on your body. The brand can be created with sunscreen, tape, stencil, etc. and the winning participant will be the best-branded logo.

Participants must send in a video of themselves riding the most unique piece of trash or object on a wave. This could be a door, a piece of wood, anything that can be found....

INTERNET CHALLENGE: “Eco-Friendly Video Contest”
Video submission contest that must contain eco-friendly content (beach clean-up, environmental restoration, etc.) The video can be no more than 3 minutes long.

INTERNET CHALLENGE: “Seeing is Believing”
Find a location that you believe is in need of change and snap a “before” picture. Then on ISD, do something to make it better (trash clean-up, restoration, etc.) and get the “after” photo. Participants must submit these photos, plus a couple of sentences about what they did on ISD to help improve the environment.

Build the most creative skateboard out of some sort of trash on June 20th — skateboard can be created out of wood, trash or other objects.

BEACH CHALLENGE: “Biggest Piece of Trash”
Find the biggest piece of trash onsite at an ISD official location.
PRIZES:
On-site Prize — Each winner will receive a pair of Volcom socks, a license plate cover and a mouse pad.

CHALLENGE: “Enviro-board”
Ride the most environmentally sound surfboard on ISD (green foam, wooden, etc).
PRIZES:
On-site Prize — Each winner will receive a tee, DVD or sticker.

INTERNET / BEACH CHALLENGE: “Most Plastic Bottles”
Pick up the most plastic bottles and plastic materials on-site at an ISD official location. The bottles can come from the beach, sidewalk or trash, so long as they come from a spot where the would otherwise not be recycled. A photo must be taken of the plastic bottles.

INTERNET / BEACH CHALLENGE: “Diamond Dobby Beach Clean-Up Challenge”
Participants must identify 4 pieces of trash that correspond to the 4 elements of Diamond Dobby™ Boardshort technology: Lightweight, No Rash, Quick Dry and Perfect Stretch. The first contestant to find and present 4 pieces of trash on the beach that fit into these 4 categories wins!
Examples of trash in each category are:
· Lightweight: Styrofoam, cork, paper
· No Rash: smooth glass, smooth soda can, smooth glass bottle
· Quick Dry: piece of cloth or fabric, cigarette butts, sponge
· Perfect Stretch: rubber, rubber bands, plastic 6-pack can holders

Grand Prize: Winner will receive 2 pairs of Diamond Dobby boardshorts. All on-site winners can check Quiksilver’s blog two weeks after ISD to see if their picture was selected. Quiksilver will contact winners for boardshort sizes and shipping addresses.

INTERNET CHALLENGE: “Rip Curl encourages you to Search but don’t destroy”
Rip Curl encourages you to Search but don't destroy. Two years ago, we got creative and paid for team rider Taylor Knox's diesel Ford F-250 truck to be converted to run on vegetable oil, making it the ultimate clean Search vehicle.
On International Surfing Day, we challenge participants to document the most creative, eco-friendly transportation you choose to utilize to Search for waves. The most creative and admirable form of eco-friendly transport and documentation will receive a grand prize.

BEACH CHALLENGE: “Bust the Bottle”
EcoUsable, one of the leading manufacturers of reusable bottle is encouraging ISD participants to help protect our oceans from the dangers of discarded plastics by hosting their “Bust the Bottle” challenge. Simply be the one to collect the most single us plastic bottles or other plastic trash off the beach.
PRIZES:

INTERNET / BEACH CHALLENGE: “Leave Only Footprints” Sand Sculpture / photo contest
We all dream of that perfect beach – golden sand, swaying palms, perfect waves –and nothing but your own footprints on the beach…
Challenge #1: Attend your local ISD beach event and create a sand sculpture of a foot. The best, most creative sculpture wins!
Challenge #2: Keeping the “Leave Only Footprints” theme in mind, take a picture of your local beach or recreation area (could be in the snow if you live in the mountains!) and post them up on the Globe page on the ISD Ning site. http://internationalsurfingday.ning.com/profile/Globe We will judge our favorite.
