Sfumato Vol. 3: The 2011 Swim Zine

posted by / Lightbox, Swim / April 26, 2011

SURFING Art Director Scott Chenoweth made an enormous personal sacrifice this year. On top of his duties piecing the magazine together every month, Scott took on the terrible burden of overseeing our 2011 Swimsuit Issue.

Poor sod had to pick and cast models (in swimsuits, of course — except that one girl who showed up with no bikini and had to strip to lingerie). He had to scout backdrops for shooting (meaning multiple comp’d trips to the sunny Dominican Republic where, oh yeah, he also surfed). He had to spend a week at the shoot, on location with the models, based out of a Dominican resort with all drinks included. Good God, we don’t know how he survived it.

On the side, Scott found time to produce this handmade art/photo zine inspired by the Swimsuit Issue experience. It’s the third zine he’s created under the name Sfumato, and like the first two, this one will be printed in a limited run and be available through Scott’s personal website. Otherwise, check the man’s handiwork here, and in the 2011 Swimsuit Issue, on newsstands now.
