LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON, LIKE GRANDSON

Filmmaking is in the blood.Or at least it appears that way with Wes Brown and TJ Barrack’s upcoming release, Islands in the Stream. The son of Dana (Step Into Liquid, Endless Summer II) and grandson of Bruce (Endless Summer), young Wes recently dove head-first into his first film project. The result? Forty minutes aboard a groovy, Outer Tahitian Island boat trip with a handful of surfing’s most intriguing characters. There’s three-time world champ Tom Curren, still the most stylish surfer alive. Hawaiian chargers Tamayo Perry and Mark Healey, living, breathing examples of the fully immersed waterman’s lifestyle. Six-time world champ Layne Beachley, the most accomplished surfer of all time. And the soul-arching slasher, Donavon Frankenreiter. In a nod to dad Dana, Wes and partner TJ let the surfers tell their stories, ultimately reaffirming the stoke we all share. And with long, hollow lefthanders as the stage, the stoke never stops flowing.[Islands in the Stream will premiere in late March or early April in Santa Barbara with Curren and Frankenreiter playing acoustic.
