Come one, come all… except for the derelict kids that tried to riot at the US Open last year. Yeah, they can’t come.

Surf photography makes the world go round. Our world, at least. It helps pro surfers put food on the table. It provides humble magazine folk with something to create. And it gives everyday surfers a dream to chase and — most importantly — the inspiration to chase it. Here are the top five photographers from the 2014 Follow The Light Photo challenge, in honor of the late Larry “Flame” Moore. It’s the most prestigious award in surf photography and it highlights the most talented aspiring surf photographers from all over the world. Often times, photos speak louder than words so listen closely to the gallery above.

Great photos everyone. Too bad the only people can get to these places are professional photographers who get paid to go with the pros. Next time make a pro division then another for amateurs. The professionals are already getting the dough and always will! Let’s leave the door open for the rest of us all who may or may not get a lucky shot. Just a real real world thought.

All the people who submitted these awesome photos, thank you and keep up the great work. We all appreciate the hard work ya all put in, at least I do. Ya keep us all hoping to get that great shot and ride.

Heya mate, glad you like the photos, there’s some great talent out there. Your assumption that all the finalists are pros is incorrect. I work nights in a regular job and almost all my photos submitted in my portfolio were taken in my own country, mostly from doing road trips with my buddies. It’s possible for anyone to get out there and capture nice images just grab some bros and hit the road. I can’t guarantee you’ll nail a cover shot, but I’m sure you’ll still have an awesome time.

Chachis work speaks for itself. The kid eats sleeps and breathes in the ocean. His images are breathtaking!! My vote is in!
