Jason -Hobbit- Weinstein dies during tropical storm Hanna

Tropical {{{Storm}}} Hannah passed along the East Coast of Florida Friday afternoon clearing up the coast and throwing solid chest-high swell to Southern Florida Beaches. With semi glass conditions and the hurricane buzz all over the state, Locals and Floridans covered the waters of South Florida. Peter Mendia, Cory Lopez and crew took over North Palm Beach’s Reef Road and others flocked to Delray Beach’s North and South End sand bars.

It was day of excitement and relief for most South Florida surfers as they storm was gone and surf was pumping. However, by noon the mood turned tragic as Jason “Hobbit” was no were to be seen. Reports state that Jason had been surfing for a while and was last seen paddling back out on his friends 9 foot longboard when he went missing.

Today, (Tuesday) South Florida morns the Death of Delray Beach local Jason ‘Hobbit’ Weinstein during his memorial at Lorne & Sons Funeral Home 6 p.m., 745 N.E. Sixth Ave. (North Federal Highway), Delray Beach. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 400 N. Swinton Ave., Delray Beach.
