LOTW runs for seven days, with the week’s most brilliant submissions picked and posted every Monday on surfingmagazine.com. There are two ways to write in: send an email to [email protected], or use the Write a Letter tab on our Facebook page.
We almost gave this week’s LOTW prize to “Amir Johnson,” who wrote in describing the hard knocks he faces as a black surfer in the South. But then we got this other email from the same address…
Nothing cool ever happens to me, so I’ve tried making up LOTW-worthy material multiple times with different email addresses, but I guess I suck at writing because every time I’ve just ended up being beat out by some douche who hates the mag, or a tale of teenage hormones. From here on out, I give up. I’ll leave the writing to you and continue reading the mag, stuck somewhere in landlocked New England. Just throw up a Letter of the Week once in a while please, or some other version of surf porn for me sometime so I can satisfy my addiction.
Phil (my real name)
So what, you figured Amir sounded like a black name? Man. That’s racist.
Amir/Phil, shame on you for your multiple-personality disorder and lack of ethnic sensitivity. But we recognize a cry for help (or free product) when we see one — so you’ll find a box of fresh Fyasko threads in a box on your doorstep in a matter of days. In the meantime, try to stay away from identity fraud.
Peruse the fine world of Fyasko on their site, blog and lookbook here.
The writer of our next LOTW will get his or her style lifted, courtesy of our fashionable friends at LRG. Send letters to [email protected], or hit the Write a Letter tab on the SURFING Magazine Facebook page.
