NSSA Surfer of the Month: Hiroto O'ohara

HOMETOWN: CHIBA, JAPAN
AGE: 15

HIROTO OOHARA IS SEEKING INTERNATIONAL SUCCESS. After dominating his home circuit in Japan, he made the decision to relocate to a more competitively prestigious coastline: California. It is on this side of the Pacific that Hiroto has been fulfilling his mission with ambassadorial displays and some fine surfing, too. In May he won the Open Mens division at the Western Championship at Huntington Beach, earning a top-five ranking in both the Open Juniors and Open Mens divisions. A dominating performance at Nationals would mark the ultimate payoff for Hiroto, and ensure that his relocation efforts were not in vain.
