SURFING’s Lost Sections Dept: Gilbert Brown

posted by / News / September 21, 2010

The reality of Taylor Steele’s Innersection is that most segments won’t make the movie; the latest round alone saw 54 entries. SURFING would like to pay our respects to some of our favorite, under-appreciated entries that you can no longer see on Innersection. These surfers are just supporting actors now, but by next year, any one could have a leading role.

Anybody who’s been to Costa Rica probably knows Gilbert Brown. Anyone who hasn’t, probably doesn’t. He definitely rips. And he definitely seems like one of the coolest bros in town. Director Saul Garcia was inspired enough by Gilbert to make his first ever surf video, using borrowed equipment and a bit creative tripod-ing. If he’d made Top 5, he was gonna sell his car to keep filming. “I don’t think I could have had the same results with another person,” says Saul. “Gilbert’s a great person and a great talent. I tried hard to get him into the final round.” —Nathan Myers

Bien merecido !!! Felicidades Gil . Bless ! Excellent surfer , incredible friend and amazing human being. Pura Vida !

well known for been a colaborator with BABYLON MOTORHOME COLLECTIVE back in Venezuela, Saul had achieve enough experience, doing live video for BMH, to present a final product like this one.
He completely understand what Surf is about, but also is aware how mass media can be cleverly used, to deliver a message.
