A Jersey For Jersey
Winning comps. Teaching Hollywood starlets to surf. Fighting off supermodels with a chair and bullwhip. Kelly Slater’s a busy man. But when he heard that New Jersey surfing godfather Dean Randazzo was battling cancer for the fourth time, he knew he had to take time to help. So, after winning the Quiksilver Pro at Snapper, he grabbed contest jersey out of the box, signed it with fellow-finalist Mick Fanning, and shipped it back to the Garden State to auction online and raise for funds for Randazzo’s recovery.
“Dean’s a friend,” the eight-time champ emailed from Oz. “He’s a guy who everyone loves, who rips and who’s having a huge struggle. He needs some support from us.”
That means all of us.So here’s three ways you can do your part:
1. Do it for Dean.This New York/New Jersey photo contest is raising cash one yellow rashguard at a time in a battle to see who can get a shot charging the biggest wave. 2. Go golfing. On May 10, at Mays Landing in New Jersey, The Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation runs its annual Golf For a Cause tournament. There’s hotdogs. Beer. Dinner. Awards.
