The Sri Lankan Airlines Pro is underway in the Maldives in great waves.

Yesterday’s trials for the locals saw eight Maldivian hopefuls advance into the last remaining spots in the main event.

Looks like the swells and weather charts are shaping up for a great week of waves for the event.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the world in the Canary Islands at Tenerife, the ASP Grade-4 La Santa Pro Junior was being held with Maxime Huscenot from Reunion Island scoring his first ASP Pro Junior event win of his career. The big victory sees Huscenot move to the top of the ratings on the 2008 ASP European Pro Junior Series, overthrowing former frontrunner Marc Lacomare (FRA).

In California, the ASP Grade-2 Arnette Pro Junior was on at Newport Beach with Cory Arrambide taking that one out. Cory also won this event back in 2006 and since then has had two other ASP Pro Junior titles taking his total to four for the career. The win also catapults the young goofy-footer into first place on the ASP North America Pro Junior ratings, a position he held for much of the season last year.

On the other side of the Pacific, the Real B Voice Longboard Pro at Taito saw Kevin Connelly take his second Japanese longboard event title. The other was back in 2006 where he won the Tahara Pro after coming second in Taito. Kevin definitely likes Japan as do the fans I’m sure like Kevin.

That’s about it for this week, but from now on, we will have plenty of ASP WQS action with back-to-back events for the rest of the year.

it's sad, but no matter how many years joel centeio tries to make the ct, 6 years now or so, he will not come close. his sponsors are wasting their money on him. he's boring to watch. sorry Joel, time to work construction in haleiwa.
