The Clash- “London Calling”
The Clash is one of my favorite bands ever. I love punk rock and they were one of the originators, I would say. Not only were they amazing musicians but they were really in touch with what was going on in the world at that time. You can tell by their lyrics and the image they portrayed. My friend Ford Archbold got me hooked on these guys within the last couple years- thanks Ford. Watch the documentary, The Clash- Westway To The World, it’s amazing.
Jimi Hendrix-“Purple Haze” Live At Woodstock
Jimi in my opinion is the best and most influential musician of all time. He was a genius who passed away too early. I have loved Hendrix since I first heard him when my dad played one of his tapes for me whenI was probably about 5 years old. Also this video is the greatest because it’s Woodstock; which was probably the coolest festival that’s ever happened. I wish I was alive back then. He is a legend and I will be listening to Jimi forever.
Nirvana- “Heart Shaped Box”
Nirvana is the definition of cool. They started the Grunge Scene, they didn’t care what anyone thought, and they wouldn’t conform. Kurt Cobain probably wrote my favorite lyrics ever and was a one of a kind individual and Dave Grohl was so sick on drums. My Friend Andrew Doheny is obsessed with these guys and got me really psyched on them again this last year. There needs to be more bands like these guys.
The Rolling Stones- “Gimme Shelter” Live 1969
The Rolling Stones are Rock N Roll and Mick Jagger is my hero. This is one of my favorite songs of all time. I can listen to this over and over and it never gets old. Ive been into the stones since I was young – they are Rock N Roll legends. Im hoping they do another tour cuz I would do anything to see them live.
The Growlers- “Something Someone Jr.”
I just heard about these guys a year or two ago from Ford and the crew in Newport. They’re a band from Costa Mesa who have a ton of buzz around them right now. They’re great musicians with a really unique and intricate style – one of my favorite bands lately. They’re on tour all over the US right now, I would go to a show if I were you…
