CJ Hobgood had the second heat of the first morning and the waves were more out of control than they were good. He didn't have any dominant heats during his run to the Quarter Finals but he still put on a show. It's nice to see the former World Champion re-qualify for the 2012 WT, still without a main sponsor.

The Hawaiian wildcards are always a threat at Pipe. That threat increases exponentially as the surf height also increases. Nobody was surprised to see Ian Walsh's performance.

The photos make it look so perfect and easy.

Dane Reynolds drew Jamie O'brien in his first heat. He asked for mercy during the Surfer Poll…

…but he was granted none. JOB.

Kai Barger surfed well enough to win a few heats, but got matched up against the guy they named twice.

Triple Crown winner, John John Florence.

They keep thinking he can't, he keeps proving them wrong. Gabriel Medina. A legitimate 2012 World Title contender.

Evan Valiere dominated his way to the Quarter Finals where he was set to make $13,750. However, a little-known fact is that the ASP takes a cut of all the wildcard’s pay. A $7,000 cut. Evan netted $6,750 for his epic performance.

Kieren Perrow proved 2010 was no fluke and one-upped himself. Your 2011 Pipe Master.
