10 Photos // June Issue: First Cuts

posted by / Photos / March 30, 2011

Every month, we make a magazine — and every month, hundreds of brilliant images get tossed back into the hard drive to wither and rot. Tragedy! But here are 10 photos that almost made the upcoming June Issue of SURFING, seeing the light of day but for a brief and fleeting moment. Be inspired, so they may not have been shot in vain.

My friends and I had the pleasure of meeting Travis Potter, Brett Schwartz, and Timmy Turner aboard the Nomad during a boat trip to Western Java ten years ago. These guys were going absolutely mental at this psycho right and a super long barreling left pointbreak. All three were super cool, down-to-earth rippers. We shared some beers with them and they shared some raw footage with us that would later become Timmy’s “Second Thoughts.”

I got the best waves of my life on this trip…I know I’ll be back some day.
