SURFING recently returned from shooting its annual swimsuit issue. We went to Australia and took with us two of our favorite models from the last couple of years, Amanda Booth and Chelsea Salmon, and met four new favorites in Sydney. Stunning, the lot. We shot in Bondi Beach on the hottest day on record in Sydney (115 degrees), then raced an RV down the coast, Griswold-family style, and found the whitest sand in the world. We shot there. And another beach nearby. Then we returned home, took some cold showers and sorted through the images from Sydney-based photographer Richard Freeman. We patted ourselves on the back. What a year. The actual issue will drop on April 2, but you can indulge in plenty of content before then, right here at surfingmagazine.com. Weekly videos introducing you to the girls will begin next week, but for now, enjoy some behind the scenes images from SURFING staff photog Duncan Macfarlane. Follow @surfingmag_swim on Instagram for plenty more outtakes from the shoot. — Taylor Paul

Not an hour after editor Taylor Paul saw a shark while bodysurfing, Amanda Booth braved the surf to get the shot.
Photographer Richard Freeman is from New Zealand but lives in Bondi with his beautiful wife and their two children. He kept things light on set.
We saw two sharks off this beach right here. That's a dolphin though. LA-based model Amanda Booth loves dolphins.
