Five Photos by Jeff Flindt, Vol. 4

“I am proud to know Andy and to be able to document his surfing. I hope that my photography can translate his surfing skills to the rest of the world. Since Andy is no longer with us, there is a certain memorable value to all my images now. The surf industry is not going to be the same without him. It’s crazy to imagine I won’t have another chance to shoot with him. Here are a couple of images I shot of him while in Tahiti last September. I didn’t realize that was going to be the last time I would see him. Andy, thanks for all your positive influences.” —Jeff Flindt

Andy Irons

I like this because it shows his style of surfing.

The lighting at Teahupo’o can be so dramatic. Here is a great portrait of Andy in contest mode.

Andy Irons, Raimana

Raimana has so much love for everyone. Andy and Raimana enjoying an afternoon moment on Raimana’s boat.

This is at Fred Patacchia’s place at the end of the road in Tahiti. I remember there was one Twix chocolate bar on the table and Fred offered it to anyone that wanted it. Nobody wanted to take Fred’s chocolate so Fred decided to grind it by himself.

Andy Irons, Jeff Flindt

This is literally the last time I saw Andy. Right after he grabbed his trophy and did his speech, he packed up his boards with Occy and Louie and headed for the airport. I’m glad I got to see him as a champ for the last time.

    Thanks for posting, Jeff
Your photo’s of all these travel warriors is the the look of being there, as a friend, not somebody with a camera.
    Thanks for sharing that.
