No, it’s not classic Jefferey’s, but remember the kak they surfed in Rio? Compared to that, this cute little lineup looks like J-Bay.

Taj smoked wildcard Sean Holmes in their round-two heat. Apparently Sean isn’t a giant killer unless J-Bay’s giant.

Bede’s back! The White Fijian used pretty turns like this to top South African Shaun Joubert, who replaced Bobby Martinez (at home with bruised ribs).

Adriano de Souza took down Gabe Kling today, despite Jimmicane’s cries that a water photographer interfered with Gabe’s final wave. Adriano is currently trying to win a world title.

And here’s Mr. Ace Buchan on his way to a combined heat score of 15.80, the highest of the day, and the win over fellow goofyfooter Cory Lopez.

Captions are wrong for last two frames… Unless Adriano dyed his hair blonde. Which I wouldn’t doubt from living in Orange County…

How idols that are NOT from USA or Australia “ARE NOT” made by surfing media: just take a look at this article tags, just before the comments: “Adrian Buchan, Bede Durbidge, billabong pro, jeffreys bay, Sean Holmes, south africa, taj burrow”.

Maybe just a coincidence, but Surfing Mag “forgot” to put the name “Adriano de Souza” in the tags. And the guy is #1 in the world ranking and actually WAS in this same article.Conspiracy theory?? Don´t know, man. I´d rather to think was just short memory, or, maybe, just the editor is not used to highlight brazilian surfers in his usual articles.

  3. that guy says:

do all brazilians bitch as much as james?

  4. Dickson Cider says:

I don’t see it. Adriano De Sapzzo’s name was right below his photo, so was Ace Buchan’s. Where’s the consiparacy? I do know that no one else did the wiggle butt bottom turns, or the floaters with the landing reactions like he just landed off the roof of a four story parking garage rather than off a 1.56 meter buttery lip. A little more body language can be just as effective I guess as an epileptic fit atyle claim.

  5. dirt says:

@ James B. Don’t worry, by years end Adriano will take up his rightful position just outside the top 10. No conspiracy.

  6. Z says:

Oh god that wave by De Souza looks dreamy………….. .*..sigh..*

  7. James B says:

Numbers don´t lie, guys… Adriano IS the current #1.

And with Slater out of the tour, the future of USA surfing on tour seems veeeery dark. No american even close of the top ten in the end of the year, and lot´s of new brazilians having all the results, THAT´S THE TRUTH!! Just wait a few months more and you´ll see. It´s already happening, boys…

  8. virtual13 says:

    THE TRUTH:
    (1) we brazilians maybe complain too much
    (2) as i see, a lot of times our complains (about being put intentionally “out”) are funded.

Where´s Dane Reynolds, is he bored of Jeffrey´s ?
