Unless you’ve tapped into some sort of parallel universe, or you’re severely cross-eyed, it’s virtually impossible to be in two places at the same time. But for SURFING staff photographer Brent Bielmann, he’s seems to have nearly mastered the art.
Yesterday morning on Maui, a solid incoming swell began to rear it’s head. Brent made his way to Pe’ahi from his home on Oahu and caught the peak of the action – as seen in the first half of the above images. The big sets that were anticipated came, the usual suspects scored themselves some waves, Nicolo Porcella even pocketed yet another horrifying wipeout (this time while holding onto a kite like a doofus), and it was a glorious success. But the hustle didn’t stop there for Brent.
Come the afternoon, Honolua Bay turned on. Names like Dusty Payne, Tai Van Dyke, Kai Barger and more lit up the right hand point as the sun streaked toward the horizon. Oh, and a little old man named Kelly Slater was there too. And if you thought that Brent would miss a special occasion like that, well, congratualtions. You played yourself.
One swell, two spots, twelve hours and twenty three photos by both Brent, and Amar Thejas, purely for your enjoyment.
