It had been a long time coming. After a dismal start to a temperate winter, things finally started shakin’ on the California coast. A warm embrace of swell was felt from the crown of Crescent City to the sloughs of Tijuana and every nook between. Things finally started happening. Maverick’s ran, Dane cared and so much more. In an effort to bring you that so much more, we’ll be doing two full galleries of California magic. The first, which you see above, is from everywhere north of Los Angeles. Photos from below the belly of the angels will be coming to you tomorrow — it’s all about patience. But you already know that.

Ya, the real surf city has been off the charts for weeks. I look at south of HB Pier and see the usual garbage conditions.
    Wimpy conditions for sure.
