Opening day at Pipeline this winter. I wasn’t sure how big this barrel was until I heard Jamie O’ Brien say, “Holy shit, did you see Jason Frederico’s wave?” I love how relaxed he is in this thing.

Dylan Graves in Santa Cruz during the Coldwater Classic a couple years ago. Traditionally the locals aren’t stoked when the contest comes to town, but I can’t wait to see what happens now that the Coldwater is a world tour event.

If you want the best lighting you usually have to rise before most people wake up. This image makes me realize how lucky I am to live on such a beautiful coastline.

Giant airs, backflips, power turns and barrels. Watching Flynn Novak surf Rocky lefts is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen.

Darshan Gooch on an early morning gem. Along with becoming the proud father of a newborn son, he is one of the most positive people I have ever met. Every time I get to shoot photos with Darsh it puts a smile on my face, and he always seems to perform.

It’s always interesting to me to see what types of airbrushes surfers put on their boards. Some surfers out there like Matt Myer’s are amazing artists, always putting a little icing on the cake.

It is very hard to get photos from the North Shore without photographer’s heads in the foreground. I got lucky on this shot of Takanui Smith while he pulled into one of the waves of the day.

Shooting from the water gives you a perspective that you will never see from land. Days like this take a lot of commitment, as the surfers risk themselves to get the shot pulling into big closeout barrels. This image was taken from a recent trip I did with Rusty Long to Mexico.

Newport Beach in the summertime is amazing. Good waves, beautiful girls, and warm enough water to surf in boardshorts. This is Josh Hoyer with a paintjob that matches his air perfectly.
