It is very hard to get photos from the North Shore without photographer’s heads in the foreground. I got lucky on this shot of Takanui Smith while he pulled into one of the waves of the day.
Shooting from the water gives you a perspective that you will never see from land. Days like this take a lot of commitment, as the surfers risk themselves to get the shot pulling into big closeout barrels. This image was taken from a recent trip I did with Rusty Long to Mexico.
