Damien Hobgood, Seaside. I used to live in Satellite Beach, FL and would hang with CJ all the time. Now I'm in Encinitas and it's the exact same program, only with Damien instead.

Kelly Slater, Rincon. What's with this guy only padding out right before dark? He can get any wave he wants so it can't be about the crowd right? Mysterious dude.

Evan Geiselman, Ventura. Evan's our only hope for a real world-class surfer from the east coast in his generation. He's making us proud though.

Dane Reynolds, Ventura. Sharpy (William Sharp) is the man shooting up there. When we end up in the same spot I just try to hang back and shoot a different angle and give him respect.

Eric Geiselman, Ventura. This day was frustrating. It went from bombing and terrible conditions to perfect offshores, but only head high in a matter of two hours. You rarely see swells die like that on the west coast.

Rob Machado, La Jolla. Pretty average day. Just roaming around looking for a different view of the action.

Taylor Knox, Swamis. If they had a WT event here, I seriously think Taylor would win it. He gets 4x as many waves as any other surfer. Great wave, but what a joke that crowd is.

Oliver Kurtz, Salt Creek. Here's an inverted indy grab. Aaron Gieger was the first to do them in Puerto Rico almost a decade ago. Albee Layer has been landing some sick ones. I expect to see a lot of people put this in their aerial repertoire this year.

I think Cormican, Nils and Hopper are world class surfers…… Jimmy Your SO FUNNY…. By the way, I loved your outfit at the TWS NEW MAG LOOK PARTY… HAHAHAHAHA
Probably the best photos I have seen of CA this winter. Great work finding those different angles, and moments, that provide a new perspective.
Greatness.
More Rincon watershots, Jimbo. No game changers here overall, I’ve seen all the other pull-back angles presented here before over the years, but a water shot of The Corner By The Sea is truly rare. And to get one of The Champ ripping is a true money shot so bravo, Grasshopper, and well worth the scroll through alone…
Sander Banta!!!! That is a buddy of mine from who went to FIT with the current Surfers’ Journal cover kneeboarder Albert Munoz. Old guys with no stickers getting it done!
T Knox is the worst person to surf with ever, he back paddles you, snakes you, and usually blows the wave. Don’t bring him to Jorges Jimmy, or Josh Kerr for the same reasons. Pro surfers sniff their own farts.
Jimmicane sucks. I am surprised he is not claiming how much better the East Coast was this winter compared to these shots….why the hell is he out here anyways? go home.
Your mom must be proud on how talented you are. Your still that office boy after all these years huh?
Can’t wait to slap your face at state park this summer
Nice work James. Not really into the first Damo shot, but all yer other shots are on point.
Duh you nailed it on that BARN. I saw a funny shot of Jimmy on TWS new look party slideshow that said it all about Jimmy – Transplant Barn.
Well done james. I like your comments too.keep it up
