The North Shore has very little in common with Los Angeles. There’s less concrete here. The buildings aren’t so tall. People don’t dress as weird and there’s probably more poke. But the two estranged lands do share one characteristic: they’re where dreams come true.
Or where dreams are destroyed.
A lot of dreams were killed or realized at Haleiwa over the past few days. It was mostly the same dream: the dream of qualifying for the 2015 CT. It slipped away from almost everybody — but almost is a powerful word. Some folks made that dream their bitch. One of them was named Wade Carmichael.
Wade came into the 2015 Hawaiian Pro as a long shot. He walked away from it with a big ol’ trophy and an even bigger win. There was a lot of power surfing in between. Now, with one event left in the 2015 WQS season, Wade sits one spot out of qualification.
And thankfully, he’s not in LA.
