Question: How Heavy Was Yesterday At Jaws?

Answer: This Heavy

You’ve probably already seen/heard about lion-tamer Aaron Gold and the record-breaking beast he paddled himself into yesterday.

(If not, check it out here)

But that wasn’t the extent of the heroics that went down January 15th at Pe’ahi. A select group of warriors strapped up and braved the massive conditions. Lucky for you, SURFING staff photographer Brent Bielmann made the short island hop over to Maui and was there to shoot all the jaw-dropping images you see above (unless otherwise noted).

This swell has been amazing, but there’s surely more to come this winter. El Nino has walked in the door, twelve pack of Natural Light in hand, and has made it very apparent that he’s here to party. So for the most up-to-date coverage, watch the rest of the season unfold right here at SURFINGmagazine.com
