Tijuana Panthers – “Redheaded Girl”
My good friend Matt Payne showed me these guys. We’ve been sampling some of their songs on our film project “Dirty Harry”. I think they go really well with super 8 footage. Overall they are a rad band.
Iggy and the Stooges – “Search and Destroy”
I hadn’t heard this song in a while. It was on one of those cd’s that played over and over again in my car. I recently heard it in Hawaii randomly and it got me psyched again. It brought me back to that time. It also reminds me of the movie, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, which is pretty classic.
Johnny Cash – “God’s Gonna Cut You Down”
My Uncle showed me Johnny cash when I was a little kid. He used to take me up north when I was young and Johnny Cash would be playing on a cassette in his truck while he would tell me stories about his life. I was intrigued and thought he was pretty bad-ass. I like all his songs. This one is probably my favorite.
Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros – “Home”
One of my good friends Sterling showed me this song a while back. I like it because it has a really cool beat, and it’s catchy. It’s a good song for traveling, it makes me happy.
The Black Keys – “Sinister Kid”
The Black keys are so in right now hahah… I think this song is actually in Eastbound and Down. It reminds me of Kenny Powers, which is rad. Kenny Powers is rad. It has a really cool beat.
Lil’ Wayne – “Reppin’ Time”
Had to mix it up and throw a Wayne song in here. I heard this one a lot in Hawaii. Chippa was bumpin’ it at the house. It got me psyched, throwin’ down Wayne lyrics on all that down time over on the rock. I like all his beats a lot.
Bob Marley – “Positive Vibration”
No question Bob is a legend, always one of my favorites. His music speaks for itself, it pretty much works at all times. It can put anyone in a good mood.
