leftist guerilla's broke into our house we were staying in with friends in the state of Choco, the city of Quibdo.there is lots of activity here since the massacre in may 2002 at the town of Bojaya. all unharmed but it just so happens that maybe the jungle men are lured to the call of the ocean as they took all our surfboards, funny times. well good choice of board to giveaway,i see rusty has been having alot of (due) success lately and can only praise him on his achievements. keep up the support of the surfing world and i'll be on the road again soon searching for that thing we search for. aloha

Each year our family and extended family (about 34 of us) go to the Outer Banks in NC. I love surfing and wanted to share this passion, so I brought my 9' longboard 15 years ago and started teaching my children, neices, nephews, in-laws etc. how to have fun on the waves. In addition to renting boards, every couple of years I would purchase another inexpensive board going down in size as the surfers abilities improved. A couple years ago my daughter's boyfriend joined us (a VA beach surfer) and brought his "Rusty" board. It was a huge hit! To this day we still hear stories about her boyfriend's "Rusty" board. If we're lucky enough to be awarded this board there would be smiles all around and even more amazing "Rusty" stories. Best always, Skip Thanks

To every kook who is whining about needing a brand new board: YOU'RE STILL GOING TO FALL WITH YOUR FLOUNDERING ATTEMPTS TO STAND UP! Go buy a used funshape. I've seen kids in barbados surfing on broken doors from huts and having fun not whining about not having a brand new Rusty! Get a grip.

I usualy surf the south shores of Oahu and I hardly, actually I haven't seen a Rusty board in the water for a long time. I see plenty of local boards (HIC, Local Motion, T & C) and Al Merricks. I know that this new Redline model will be a bomb and if I can score one from you guys, I will hit every point and show these guys that the Redline rips. Let me advertise it for you guys. South Swells are coming soon!

I don't have a board currently and that board would be sick to have. I live in San Diego and use to surf competitively for Rc's Surflines surf team, and get all my gear from them. Now they're gone and I could sure use a nice Rusty stick. Thanks for your ear and God Bless. Jeremy Martinez

Well, I'm from Florida, and I recently started surfing in about January and it'd be pretty nice to get a new board. I'm a broke high school kid, and not all of us have the luxury of being able to drop a wad of wash on a board. I'm using a 6'2" board I bought for 75 bucks from a dude off of craigslist, that was an experience. I went to the dudes house to pay for it and whatever and he was telling me how he could also teach me how to walk through walls and stuff like that, because he's a paranormal researcher. I got the board and scrammed. It's held up pretty nice for me, I got it with a few cracks and whatever but I just did a ductape job on it, but it'd be really nice to score a new board. To be honest the biggest reason I want to win is to brag about it and possibly score a girlfriend. Seriously. Thanks, Ben

Summer's coming up and what better way to attract all the ladies than to flash this pearly white board. If I had this board I'd probably have to beat chicks off with a stick cause I'd be so hot and they'd want to get all over me and my new board. I mean, I think I might write a letter to rusty to try and get them to change the name from the Redline to the Babe Magnet. Not only is this board dead sexy, but I bet it shreds. I'd love to take this thing out and just punish some waves.

poor aviation student in need of a board. Would love to have this board and put it in a piper archer and make numerous cross country trips along the coast. As you know flying is expensive so a new board would really be a blessing.

I could really use that new board. After my best friend died I didn't surf for a very long time and now I'm finally getting over this and I'm ready to get back into the water again. So please guys, get me that board.

There is nothing glocious than surfing! What a wonderful feeling it is. It is easy, well, maybe. All I have to do is make sure that I wanna surf. I am a surfer girl in Taiwan and I surf everyday. Surfing could help me establish how my likes and dislikes, and needs and wants, line up with those of my significant other feelings. Surf is a new love become truly significant in my life. And, of course, the reality has to match up to the answers to these questions. Therefore, I really need the Rusty surfboard.

I need this board to cheer me up! In the past 3 weeks I have broken my finger (it got caught in my leash), am suffering from a severe case of poison oak (it's all over my body), and am recovering from being rushed to the hospital and treated for the very fatal toxic shock syndrome (it's a girl thing, you boys probably wouldn't know about, but if you want to learn more, just read the warning labels on a box of tampax :) In spite of it all, I just wanna get back out there and surf.

The board is to small for me. Instead it will be my daughters first surfboard, and after she trashes it in the next few years, it will go above my fire place. The Rusty company is not only put out a great product, but each board is a work of ART!

I come from florida that should say enough but since it most likly won't ill go on. Here in Florida we dont get much but we do get we take and we love it (thats why kelly is so good). I have never owned a new board of my own i have always baought used boards or used my friends boards cause i can't really afford to buy a new one. And now that i am just getting out of high shcool and try to get into college it is going to be even harder. Plus my girlfrind is six months pregant so any money i do have is going into savings for the baby. So i knew board would be an amazing gift for me. but if u choice someone else thats cool but i would really love this board it would mean the world to me to win it. So thanks for the chance and reading this comment and best of luck with your choice.

hey guys wuts up, i would love to get into surfing but every board i can borrow is way too small and i miss out on great surf. it's also hard for me to save up and make money being a teenager dealing with school and having an old Jeep (in need of repairs from off roading) to be able to buy a board. i would definatley appreciate and use this board a ton, it would probably be a good size for me too. thanks, god bless.

I got the best barrell of my life this past summer... well overhead. But just as I was about to make it out, some chop lifted me up, and slammed me and my board down into the rock bottom of the ocean, cracking my board in half... since them I have had to ride an orange foamie... please save me the embarrassment of having to look like a newbie :/

What, I thought Kerr was a front-footed surfer? Seems like he would be with all those airs. If I get this board I'll surf just like him and be on the WCT next year. And then Ill beat Kerr in a heat and then mentor him afterwards. So yeah, I pretty much rule and deserve this more than anyone because im a rippah.

I really need this board for my 17 year old daughter. She is my surf partner and has been going through hell lately. We surf together all the time. She broke her board last year and it semed to be the beginning of her life getting out of control. A bad school year, bad relationships and ending up with her grandmother dieing all which caused her to begin hurting herself intentially again. She feels like life is really not worth while. We went to the beach in NC and braved the still cool waters for a surf session last week which seemed to temporarily boost her spirits. She really is the ultimate surf chick but she just seemed to have lost her way. I need you all to help me get it back.

The glorious life of a surfer in Tampa, Florida isn't all that it's cracked up to be. I know it's hard to believe, but sometimes the hour trips to the gulf and the constant flatness aren't the most inviting for surfing. Plus with all of the money for gas that I have to spend, I don't have the extra bank needed for new surf gear. I read your magazine all the time and I can guarantee you that if you choose me for this board, it will not go to waste (I'll be able to stop saving money for a board and put it towards gas!).

I've never owned a Rusty. My first new board I've ever owned is a 6'1 Almerrick tuflite thruster. I've had it for 5 years now and love it. However it is starting to get down to it's last legs. I surf every week and live three blocks from the ocean in huntington beach. I just fear that if it breaks I'll be out of surfing for a while because I go to school and work barely covers rent and other bills in real life. A second board would take some of the stress out of going surfing, and there should never be any stress when going surfing. Not a good vibe when heading out for a session.

OKAY here's my reason why I should get this board. 1st I'm a school teacher, (budget cuts are going to hit home). 2nd My wife stays at home with our 3 boys 6 & under. 3rd We are hurting this summer for $ so it looks like Top Ramen will be on the daily menu. 4th I've only got 5 boards and none of those include your standard SHORTBOARD THRUSTER, so basically the only way I'll get it is to win it. 5th I can save you guys $ because since I live in SD I could just go pick it up at the Rusty warehouse:)

I would donate the board to charity, sort of. I would take it to the local orphanage and let everyone pass it around, I would also let them use the leash as a jump rope and allow them to all take turns applying a swipe of wax. I would also tell them that each time I surf it's my way of dealing with helping them find their parents so the more I get out the better their chances are of getting out. I think that would bring them together and offer hope

Yo broski, let a lil poor surfer in Pacific Beach get a new stick. This board is exactly my dimensions and i would definitely shred it and eventually have to buy a new one. I would love the chance to depreciate a Rusty as the price of them are rapidly increasing year by year. I am a huge fan of josh kerr's and i would be honored to ride his performance model see what i got. Let me know when its on the way. Thanks, PEACE BE DA JOURNEY!

My dad is a surfer and he has been surfing for almost 30 years. He takes me to the beach in the summer and we go to Montauk because that's where his favorite beach is and we always go in the water even if it is cold which is usually and the waves are small, which is a lot of the time, but I don't mind. I'm just learning but I love the water and I can boogie board real well. My dad says that surfboards cost a lot but he will buy me one when we find a nice used board. Maybe I can surprise him with this really neato board. I bet he knows who Rusty is, boy would he be proud of me and then I can go surf all the time! yippeee. Thank you very much. love Ema

Aloha: In 1957, at age 5 I tried to surf Waimea Bay and nearly drowned after my head hit a coral "flower." So, I took my koa board to Muskegon, Michigan and became the first surfer in the Great Lakes region, unless you prove otherwise. It's your challenge. By the way, I successfully surfed Waimea and Pipeline just two years later when I reached age 7. Say hello to Kelly "Chalkboard" Slater for me, if he doesn't want to believe that he's a bastard.

I'm a young progressing surfer and i truly believe i have a lot of potential, i have just recently started surfing competitively and i'm not able to make it pass the first round . I'm struggling to learn how to develop better cordination with my turns. I keep growing every month and i've gotten to be about 5ft9inches. My current board is about a 5ft10inches. I'm slowly trying to build a quiver of boards for different conditions and i think this would be a great board for the winter. I don't want anything more than people to really notice how hard i'm trying to surf. I go after school at 4 and get out of the water at 7 about 3 times a week. I've already buckeled my board in the middle and the nose, and pooped 2 fins out. My board isn't gonna last to long, so please rusty can u help me pursue my dream that i extremelyper badly. I watch all the surfers my age just win event after event. I want people to recognize who i am and that i'm honestly putting the hours in to boos

back before the war started in iraq my son went into the navy seals. his mother gave him a cell phone to keep in touch with her. i gave him my fave rusty's surfboard (my only stick) to keep him in touch with his other mother...it was a supreme sacrifice to give it up but i was afraid he'd get killed over there and i'd never see him again, i wanted him to have the best days of his life...i never got it back, but he was thrilled and i got my son back...he's my hero...

You do not know how much this board would mean to me if I won it. I am only 14 years old, and my parents don't have any money right now, and nobody will hire me until I turn 15. My current board is so old and dinged up. The only thing that is keeping me sane at the moment is that school is almost out.

well i was sitting on the rocks at seaside after a session when a government van pulled up and 3 guys grabbed my yellow fish and ran. i'm assuming at 1 of them was al gore, and the other 2 were probably clones of al gore. i was pretty bummed so i threw a small rock at their van and then they shot me in the face. i fell backward into the dirty seaside water and got a staph infection and a couple stds. after i got out of the hospital, i had muscular atrophy from laying out too long, crabs, and my domepiece was all thrashed. soooo i went home and my board was nailed to the front door with an apology note. obviously nails and surfboards dont like eachother, so now i'm screwed cause i spent all my money on hospital bills and have none left to fix my board. if any of this were, you would give me that surfboard. whatever.

I'm part of a web site; 104inc.com. One site we have is 104surfing.com. Using my motorhome, I take families to the different local beaches; from SanDiego to Ventura. Parents get reaquainted with the experience, while for some of thier kids it's thier very first time to the beach. Last weekend, May 17th, a 9-year old experienced her first bonfire, roasted her first marshmallow. She says,"why don't we do this more often?". I supply the ride, the boards and the chance at a great experience. All for the cost of a smile. With rising costs of our economy, winning this board would be nice. I enjoy bringing people together to share the experience of OUR beaches and surf. What's better than the smile of someone paddling out, trying to sit on the board for the first time, or catching thier first little wave. SMILES AND GOOD TIMES FOR EVERYONE!!!!!!

I hate writing a "poor-pity-me" comment so I'll just keep it simple. I'm sick and tired of borrowing ,renting, and admiring other peoples waveriders. this would be my first board ever and everyone knows how special your first board is. Thanks for the chance to , at least , say this much.

Its awsome that surfing magazine can do this for all of us. I love the ocean soo much and everything about it and im sure everyone can say the same. Surfing fills our lives with happiness and inspiration and it provides a healthy body and a healthy sprituality that involves nature. Need i say more? I would truely, deeply, and profoundly appreciate the board up for grabs.

Been surfing most of my life, was turned on to short-boards in 1967 by Chuck Dent, (RIP). Never went back to long-boards, tried though. When my thruster was stolen in San Clemente, someone gave me a light blank long-board, a name I never heard of, Kahaole Ole I think. A 9 foot monster it was. I tried hard to re-learn how to ride a long board, but my heart just wasn't there. I just dont really want to go back. Dont get me wrong, long-boards are way cool, just not for me. I don't want to stop surfing, but I cant afford to buy a new stick with the outrageous prices now being asked. Even used boards are expensive, and it is frustrating to be out of the water because some a-hole took what I can't replace. I have never won anything in my life, and at age 58 I need a break, so I can get back to the break, and if I ever wanted my luck to change, now would be the time. A new Rusty under my feet and I will shred! And you know, there are two things that make an old surfer young again: a young girl, and a new

To whom it may concern: The reason why I signed up for the free board give away is because a very close friend was just diagnosed with Lucama. He is only 10 yrs old and to this day he lives and breaths the ocean life especially surfing even after being diagnosed. I know winning this board would not only brighten his spirit but also give him a little motivation to fight Lucama and get back into the water. I know you are reading this after reading millions of comments but when I tell you this can in some way benefit another one's life. To me this is just my mission for my friend and if you help me win this board you to will be in the respects and gratitude of helping his get through this rough time. I am in the Army and when I heard about RJ I melted because he is truly a good person. He believes is doing right by others and is always profound in his statements. One thing I will always remember him say is, "In order to change the world it starts with one random act of kindness." Thank you fo

Surfing, to me, is an experience of true freedom. Waking up at 6 a.m. to make it through misty Latigo Canyon to where the waves greet me is what I live for. In the water, bills and school don't matter. Riding waves is all there is to focus on and be in love with. Though there is a crowd of incredibly qualified candidates, I ask you consider this budding journalist and avid surfer to receive the sexy, Rusty board. Regardless, I thank you for the opportunity to enter to win. Surfing Magazine shines and the website does the sport justice. Top notch job coverage, top notch. A Surfboard Changes Lives... I would take the surfboard and action it off - especially if we could get Rusty to sign it! All proceeds would go to the Beachside Church in Ormond Beach, FL., (a.k.a. The Surfers Church) to help surfing families in need. Many surfing families are hurting right now and need our help. Use the board for a great cause! This should be about giving, not I want, I want, I want. But go ahead, let’s all be selfish... give it to someone who decided to spend their money on something useless instead of a board. Want a great board cheap? Contact a local shaper and ask to buy direct. Erie Peebles in Central Florida, Barry Vandermullen in Huntington Beach, etc. Avoid retail, take a pizza to a shapers shop, bring them a box of copy paper, just do something cool... I know they will make you a board at wholesale. Steve Newman New Smyrna Beach, FL. scn.newman@gmail.com

there are some sad stories here, but chew on this......me, my 9 month pregnant wife & 2 yr old son rented this house & the shyster bunglord stopped making payments 2 months before renting it to us. he nabbed our deposit $4,000 and all our payments. He left us with a realtor knocking at the door from the bank, a disconnected # and a p.o. box., but that's not the worst part.....the whole reason i need a board is that the bank gave us 2 weeks to move out, so this last weekend in the mad scramble, my board got left in the garage. so i come back the next day to get it and the realtor wouldn't even let me in the place to get it. my "old" neighbor told me he saw her loading it into some kids truck earlier that morning. she said once i left, everything inside the property was the banks. which i would not feel so bad about, if i saw one of the chairman of the "board" @ the bank pullin' a few sets and treating my board like they should.........but now, I quietly sit thinking to myself &q

As a kid I grew up in a hispanic population. When kids in school would talk about sports, you would hear every kind of sport except surfing. I wanted to take up that sport because I wanted to be the individual from the group. I was raised by my mom and she could not afford to pay for a surfing board. So everytime I would go to the beach I would always sit down and watch the surfers catch waves for hours, looking at them having the time of there lifes. I would always think to myself how would it feel to catch a perfect wave but never knew the feeling. I spotted this contest today and had to enter it. If I win this contest you will help me achive my dream of owning not just a surfboard but one of the best surboards made by Rusty. Thanks Surfing Magazine and Rusty Surfboard...

Is this giveaway random? 'cause if it is that would defeat the purpose of posting "pick me" posts. But, just in case, I was riding 7'0 hybrid from arrow of santa cruz, but smashed it on some rocks in Big Sur recently.... unrepairable... now I'm stuck on an $100 8'0 Costco sponge till I can save up for a new one which would be a while since I just quit my job to surf till winter semester starts up at UCSC and would much rather ride the sponge than find a new job or go back to the old one...Oh, the irony. Would like a free board... I mean, who wouldn't if they were broke?

I started surfing about a year ago with a board i got a garage sale for 15 dollars and it turned out being the most fun i have ever had... so a couple months ago i got my dad to buy me a used board in north carolina witch i loved.. i was stating to go surfing a couple times a week... but the other day the fiber glass broke on the bottom and my fin broke out.. i have no money so i was just online looking at prices for new and used boards and i saw this contest... winning would really help so i can get back in the water..

I would like to win this board for many reasons. First My cousin surfs and he has been wanting me to get a board for a very long time so he would have someone to go with. Second I have surfed with friends over the years and i have really had good times on a surf board. Third my grandmother has a beach house in york ME and it would really be fun to get a board so I can go surfing while im visiting instead of watching all the surfers. Thanks.

This board would be for my brother, who is in Peru. He's 16, started surfing last year and got really really good in just 2 months or so, so he started competing last summer (Jan - march). This is definitely gonna be a big Christmas present for him and an enormous incentive as his board, which was mine is about crash ... so, even if it's not Christmas )).Next time i'll go to Peru we wanna go together to Cabo Blanco.I wish you all to surf there, from october to december you will live your life's dream !!, trust me.

Well, After I got fired, dumped, and lost my dog I went surfing...It just so happened I snapped my only board on a pathetic little sandbar demon wave, I pretty much dont have anything right now, im trying to pay for school, but thats not really working. My dog was my best bro, and now i have him no more, and my board, what a board, got it for christmas two years ago, now its cold dead carcass is in the garage amidst a pile of old bike parts.

A 45 year hold father of a 8 year old surfer, that started surfing because of his son, deserves a Rusty Board. Don’t use my age to put me on a longer board, I try to surf a Piranha 6.0’. Imagine supporting your addiction and your son’s. Expensive? Now imagine that you by Surfing Magazine and they put up a giveaway that does not consider international readers. Please help the poor father and punish the short minded publisher.

I have not bought a new surfboard in over eight years. I don't even think I could afford a new one. But that's alright. My board has a nice heavy duty glass job and It still is the funnest board I've ever owned and I don't see us parting anytime soon. If I won this board, I would like to find some deserving surf stoked kid that can't afford a board of his own. Kind of like the kid down the street from me who gets the crap beat out of him by his old man. Good Luck to whoever wins!

I have been surfing since I was 12 (1972) and surfing is a way of life for me and now for my children also. I have never been a long boarder and my 1st board was a G&S 6'2 and I now ride a fun 6'8. As I have gotten older and I have switched to more fun boards, which have been a little longer/wider as years have gone by, I have realized that I miss the menuverability of a high performance board. This board would allow me the opertunity to experience the high that comes from new designs and materials, but would also be a family board for my children to experience as their level of skill increases.

Guys, being on top of everything at 20 -school, work, surf, a girl- ain't that easy. Thats a universal truth. But doing all this, in flying colors, is something REAL HARD. Plus, you start getting all these crazy little expenditures, which just start to add up! Dings, mags, gas, socks, beer.. . wait, scratch that. The point is, that when we add the cost of a board, plus a wetsuit- things just start to get out of hand. I kinda have a perfect balance for school and work, so I don't wish to mess that up. I do admit, that having a 5'10 is considerably better than having nothing. But you have to think about the implications of this though. Meaning, think about anything 8f.+ with just any remotely resemblance of what I, and probably everyone else in your office constantly needs*COUGH, COUGH, BARRELS, COUGH, EPICNESS, COUGH, FREAKING CAVERNS... Okay, I'm sure you get the point. Is just that being on top of everything at 20, ain't that easy. It all can be done. It just takes discipline and a li

Hola~ You already know my name. I am from Tennessee. Just moved to Texas at the beginning of the summer. My new girl bought me A board and the day I rode it for the first time, I hit the middle tail fin on the second bar coming in and it snapped right off. Now when I mount my board, it kicks sideways unless I am standing perfect as soon as I jump. I have never won any kind of contest, don't play the lottery. You have to play stuff to win. Here's my chance. Late

I just have arrived in California (Riverside) and I am going crazy without surfing (almost two months). Unfortunately, I don't have money available now (I am just a student with a small scholarship) to be able to buy a surfboard. I really would like to explore the coast of California, but of course, I need a surfboard, so I think this promotion could come very well for me (although it is the same for all, hehehe). Moreover, the surfboard model is great and done by an experienced shaper. Maybe with this surfboard I could improve my surf and try to enter to WCT ( I am just kidding : ). Ok, no more words, just please take into account my message and GIVE ME THIS BOARD!!! Best regards and good waves for everybody trying this incredible surfboard!!

Hey, I thought this was a registration for a free board, not some surfer blog site to cry about why they should get some type of Rusty bailout?!?! Given the love that the "shaper of the year" gave to the "Messiah" in Surfing Magazine recently I nearly let my subscription run-out. It made physically ill!!! I just couldn't go without my fix of Surfing Mag though, so I swallowed my pride and renewed for another two years. But, I would sell my vote for that little extreme leftist Muslin loving kook to get that board and it shames me to admit it. Still, it would be a worth it if my "rescue package" made the greatest shaper of all time smile.

It would be very cool to win the board. I am landlocked in TN now, grew up in DE and when I go home, especially now with 2 daughters who love the ocean, it would be very cool to be able to intro them to surfing. In fact, because I never had the opportunity to surf growing up, I have always wanted to learn. The ocean is in my blood and hoepfully one day we can move back. Take care.

This is an awesome board! I hate to give a sympathy story but here goes, I go to school in georgia and I surf whenever there are waves but last week I droped in on a wave and there was a new guy paddling in. Anyway we hit and he managed to just get a scatch on the tail of his board while the entire bottom of mine was ripped open. The sad part comes when I tell you I have rent due and no money to fix my board and even worse is Im stuck in georgia so that was the only board I had with me, so no more waves for me. So please, please gimme this board I want to surf

I live in hawaii on The Big Island in a sleepy little town called Hilo. So with that being said I really could use a real board for the surf here. Are shapers are really good but pricey and to try and afford those high performance mainland boards I might as well live in a box or homeless shelter and save for a month or two. So please i really could use a board for when are waves really get good.
