Sweden Goes Off! (Sort Of)

All Photos By Jeff Flindt

A surf photographer? Living in Sweden? It's amazing what love can do. And when SURFING staffer Jeff Flindt's beautiful wife Caroline (a Swedish native) proposed they moved back to her homeland for a spell, he devotedly obliged. It's been a couple winters now in the cold, northeastern reaches of Europe. And while he's enjoying the futuristic yoga studios and public transportation, he hasn't exactly found the next Pipeline (or even Monster Mush). Flindt has, however, met a small group of Swedish crazies who are nuts about surfing. Whenever the winds rip down the Gulf of Bothnia, they get decent windswell in the chest to head high range. This session went down this past weekend, and since Flindt was in town prepping for his next big global adventure, he pulled out his camera and fired away. As Flindt said, "It was cool to hang with these guys and document their 'stoke.' They were pretty happy to go outside and get in the water." Here's a few highlights from a Swedish surf session.

You must admire the stoke of those Swedes. One of my most memorable surf trips. Did manage to catch a certain lefthander doing its thing--big-up to Peter Klang, Binge, Oskar, and the rest of the Stockholm crew! Jeff, I'm a bit jealous of you! Say hello to the Swedish vixens for me....

These pics are not from the Gulf of Bothnia, more likely from Kattegatt the small strech of water separating Sweden and Denmark. Gulf of Bothnia is as far north as You could possibly get in Sweden around the polar circle. Some hardcore surfers up there too but only around six months season due to the fact that the sea freezes over. Thanks for the pics Surfing. Now how about You nail some swedish vixens for the next story Jeff hahaha BTW have You checked out Your "sister" publication in Sweden at www.surfing.se ???
