For the most daylight deprived forecasting nerds out there, this whole south swell blitzkrieg was no surprise. More than a week before Californians woke up on Friday to surf reports topping out at the rare 10-foot mark (for July), the little purple blob that could far far down in the Southern Hemisphere was spinning. And spinning. Promising one hell of a party. We’ll leave the mind-numbing forecasting diatribe to the other guys and just let you swig back a few tasty images from the soon-to-be legendary south swell of 2009. Cheers.
