How did you get into designing bikinis?
I grew up on Maui where I wore them all the time and was always traveling to tropical destinations. During high school I learned how to sew my own bikinis and it all just went from there! Living in bikinis is the norm here in Hawaii.

What’s your perfect bikini?
The bikini of choice lately has been our Ho’okipa bottom (simple, minimal coverage) and our Canons top for a classic triangle but my new favorite bandeau is our Lumahai top. I am also all of a sudden in love with sexy one pieces.

What trend will be hot next year?
I never go by trends to be honest. I always just go by what I love.

What are some main influences behind your brand and its designs? And what inspires you as a designer?
I am constantly inspired by other cultures. Part of my heritage is Native American. I have a collection of original beadwork, which is quite popular now, and the patterns are always inspiring. My travels also inform my designs. I am always looking at foreign textiles and colors. The beach and my home Hawaii continue to inspire my collections as well.

What would your dream vacation be?
Lyndie and I have been talking for some time now about a girl’s trip to Greece. But would also love to do a girl’s trip to India, Morocco, and Africa.
