Teahupo’o will never get dull. But Ben Thouard has shot this same phenomenonal slab thousands of times, so when he needs new inspiration, he’s not afraid to look at the wave a bit differently. “I know it can sound cliché,” Ben explains, “but I try to shoot unique moments of light or waves. Ones that will surprise people and make them realize how amazing the ocean is.” And while we’ll never get bored of looking at photos from Chopes, we appreciate Ben going the extra mile to capture uncommon visions at such a well-documented wave.
